AHOSKIE- NC – Shirley Baker Pierce, born on February 18, 1935, in Bertie County, peacefully passed away on February 28, 2024, at the Home of her son. She was 89 years old.

Shirley was a graduate of Windsor High School, attended East Carolina Teachers College (now ECU), Dell School of Medical Technology in Asheville, NC, and the Real Estate Institute.

Shirley dedicated 20 years of her life to the medical field before her son was born. After nine years she became a dedicated, respected real estate broker, twice earning recognition as a top ten broker in the nation in both 1988 and 2000.

Her love for flowers was evident, reflecting her gentle and nurturing nature. Shirley was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church of Ahoskie and the Ahoskie Garden Club for over 50 years.

Shirley is preceded in death by her father, Enoch Baker, her mother, Minnie Hughes Baker, her beloved husband, Cedric Erroll Pierce; and her brothers, Ledrew, Jessie, and Herbert J. Baker. She is survived by her son, Cedric Gray Pierce, her beloved daughter-in-law, Jessica Pierce, and her adoring granddaughters, Laura and Hannah Pierce.

The family would like to express their sincere appreciation for the kindness and care given by her nieces, through her period of illness. We are forever grateful.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, March 6, 2024, at the First Baptist Church of Ahoskie, with Rev. Anita Thompson officiating. A private committal service will take place at 1:15 pm on Wednesday at Highland Memorial Gardens, prior to the church service. The family will receive friends at the church immediately following the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in honor of Shirley’s memory, directly to First Baptist Church of Ahoskie, P.O. Box 649, Ahoskie, NC, 27910 or online by clicking here.

May she rest in peace.

Gray and your precious Family are in my prayers! Your Mom’s Spirit shines brightly in my heart and in the hearts of many. I’m Blessed to have a multitude of familial memories of Shirley, Cedric; You. After all, we were a big Frazier’s Cross Roads family in and out of one another’s lives/houses!. The Best cook around; I’m still using her recipes! I’m joyful that she will be with us all Eternally.
