COLERAIN, NC – Shirley Ferguson White, age 89, passed away on Wednesday, January 5, 2022 at the Vidant Roanoke Chowan Hospital of Ahoskie, NC.
Mrs. White was born on January 10, 1932 to Arthur Thomas Ferguson and Martha Ella Vinson Ferguson in Ahoskie, NC. Shirley was a loving mother to her son, Larry. She was a hard-working provider for her family, from keeping house, to helping on the farm, working in the country store, taking care of others as a nursing assistant. She was best known for her love of cooking, never preparing a bad meal, and passing that love on to her son. In her words, “I love to cook, and I love my own cooking.” Shirley was loved and will be greatly missed by all that knew her.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Page White, her long-time boyfriend, Bryant Norville, and a sister, Geraldine Brantley.
Shirley is survived by her son, Larry White of Raleigh, NC; and two sisters, Dorothy Ferguson Brown, and Joyce Ferguson Leary, both of Ahoskie.
The family will plan a memorial service at a later date.
