EMPORIA, VIRGINIA- Te-Hsing Yang, affectionately known as Sam, age 67, passed away on June 14, 2023, in Emporia Virginia due to a tragic robbery incident. Sam was born in Taiwan on July 26, 1955, and moved to the United States to pursue the American Dream.

Sam owned and operated China Garden in Emporia for many years, where he touched the lives of many with his warm smile and delicious food. He was known for his work ethic and dedication to supporting his family. He was always up for a trip to Atlantic City. In his younger years, Sam enjoyed fishing with his sons.

Sam was a loving father to his two sons, Wei-Chieh “Jamie” Yang and Andy Yang, and adored his granddaughter, Alaysia Yang. He was preceded in death by his father, Hung-Hsing Yang, mother Tzu-Chin Yang, and brothers Te-Kuei “Ted” Yang and Te-Lin Yang. His surviving family members include his sisters Chu-Ying Cheng, Li-Ming Yang, and Li Yang, and many nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Sam’s unexpected death is a loss for all who knew him. Despite his hardships, Sam was an inspiration to many with his unwavering dedication to his family and hard work. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Due to the unexpected death of Mr. Yang, the family ask that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to help with cost that the family is being faced with due to his tragic passing.

Services to honor Sam’s memory and celebrate his life will be held on Saturday, September 30, 2023 at 4:30 pm at Garrett~Sykes Funeral Service, Ahoskie Chapel.

i am so sorry to hear about your Dad. I remember him well he was always so kind and concerned about your schooling. I think often of all of your family including your grandparents and Uncle Ted’s family.
