Thomas Jeconiah “Tommy” Dixon, Sr., age 83, of Scotland Neck, passed away on Wednesday, October 7, 2020 at Bryan Health and Rehabilitation in Scotland Neck.
Tommy was born in Northampton County on September 25, 1937 to the late Thomas and Sally Dixon. Tommy was married to Amy Warren on June 26, 1959 and they enjoyed sixty-one years of marriage. He was a member of Hope Free Will Baptist Church in Scotland Neck. Tommy worked as a Correctional Officer at Caledonia Prison for twenty years and following retirement had several jobs to keep himself busy. He enjoyed farming and working with livestock. Tommy was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather and enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family. Tommy was a great conversationalist and never met a stranger.
In addition to his parents Tommy was preceded in death by his daughter, Terry Lynn Dixon.
Tommy is survived by his wife, Amy Dixon; his son, Tony Dixon of the home; his granddaughter, Jessica Dixon of Roanoke Rapids; his grandson, Thomas Christopher Dixon of Halifax; and two great-grandsons, Julian Johnston and Brendan Thomas Dixon both of Roanoke Rapids. Also surviving is his brother-in-law, Thurman Ray Warren of Tarboro; and two very special friends, Sonia Bass and James Buck.
The family will receive friends on Friday October 9, 2020 from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Letchworth-Sykes Funeral Service in Scotland Neck.
A celebration of life graveside service will be held on Saturday, October 10, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at Sunnyside Cemetery in Scotland Neck, with Rev. Matt Jones officiating.

I grew up living beside the Dixon’s.As a young girl I remember Mr. Dixon always having a kind word and a funny joke to tell.
