AHOSKIE, NC – Veradia Mae “Peggy” McDonald Dilday, age 85, of Godwintown Road, passed away on Thursday, February 4, 2021 at the UNC Rex Hospital in Raleigh, NC.
Mrs. Dilday was born on July 2, 1935 to Oswell and Dorothy Weeks McDonald in Fayetteville, NC. Peggy devoted her life to her family. She cherished her time with them and loved them dearly. She enjoyed reading, cooking and traveling to the mountains. She was loved by many and will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Clayton Dilday, and her brother, Johnny Mack McDonald.
Peggy is survived by her six daughters, Linda St, John and husband Joe of Ahoskie, Sheila Ray of Ozark, AL, Sherry Turnage of Ahoskie, Teresa Turnage of Long Beach, MS, Bobbi Coutlis and husband Mike of Virginia Beach, VA, Doris Ray and husband Danny of Windsor, NC; son, Clay Dilday and wife Laurie of Ahoskie; grandson, Mark Lee and wife Carrie of Mobile, AL; four granddaughters, Renee White of Windsor, Toni Woodham and husband Jason of Ozark, AL, Hope Ray of Ozark, AL, and Keri Pugh and husband Robert of Ozark, AL; and six great-grandchildren; Gray White, Macy Pugh, Bryson Pugh, Hunter Gill, Dylan Lee, And Kendall Lee..
Due to the COVID pandemic, the family will have a private family graveside service on Monday, February 8, 2021 at Ahoskie Cemetery, Ahoskie, NC with the Rev. Anita Thompson officiating.

Moms are the best. I just realized your mom passed. I loved her. She was so proud of her family and treated everybody so nice.
