AHOSKIE, NC – Vernon Tyson Meeks, age 87, passed away on Monday, December 21, 2020 at the Ahoskie Assisted Living in Ahoskie, NC.
Mr. Meeks was born on October 17, 1933 to Cecil D. Meeks and Novella Garrison Meeks in Greenville, NC. Vernon served his country proudly in the United States Army. He was a mechanic by trade and enjoyed fixing things. He was the proud owner and operator of the Gulf Service Station and Meeks Motor Company where his trade excelled in Virginia Beach, VA. Vernon was a loving father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He was loved by many and will be deeply missed by all that knew him.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife Ann Meeks and his second wife Elsie Meeks.
Vernon is survived by three daughters, Linda Hitchcock and husband Bill of Loveland, CO, Angela Gajarski and husband Tom of Bailey, CO, and Evelyn Jeffcoat of Clayton, NC; son, Barry “Butch” Weaver and wife Teresa of Florida; two grandsons, Henry Hitchcock of Loveland, CO, and Randy Jeffcoat, Jr. and wife Brittany of NC; four granddaughters, Caitlin Gajarski of CO, Pamela Jeffcoat and Issac Lambert of NC, Krystal Crawford and husband Josh of NC, Kimberly Strickland and husband Brian of NC; and numerous great-grandchildren.
The family will have a memorial service to celebrate Vernon’s life at a later date.
