Wesley Ray Butler, 63, went home to be with the Lord on May 28, 2016 after a long courageous battle with lung cancer.
A service celebrating his life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 31, 2016 at Oak City Baptist Church. The Reverend Lyle Brackin will be presiding.
The family will receive friends after the service at the church Fellowship Hall.
Mr. Butler, a native of Martin County, graduated from Oak City High School. He served six years in the NC National Army Guard as a clerk typist. Mr. Butler was a quiet, determined, loyal, loving supportive family man, a generous person and good friend. He was the owner/operator of Wesley Butler Roofing and General Carpentry. He loved to make furniture for his family and had a passion for refurbishing and recreating old rusty vehicles.
Surviving Mr. Butler are his wife of forty-four years, Beverly Bouldin Butler; daughters, Tabitha Smith and husband Tyler of Columbia SC and Heather Beal of Lenoir, NC. He was so proud of his grandchildren, Corinne and Andy Smith and Grainger Beal. He is also survived by brother; Danny (Sherry) Butler of Hassel, Eddie Butler of Oak City, and Kent (Glenda) Butler of Greenville; sisters-Beverly Bowen of Oak City and Sharon (Mark) Bryant of Robersonville. He was loved by nephews, nieces, aunts, uncles, cousins and a host of friends. He was preceded in death by his parents Rev. and Mrs. William (Bill & Mable) Butler.

Arrangements are being handled by Letchworth Funeral Home in Scotland Neck.
