CONWAY, NC – William Alan Burgess, 48, of Deloatch Mill Road, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, April 21, 2021 at his parents’ home in Conway, North Carolina.
Alan was born on October 12, 1972 to William Jerry Burgess and Beverly Harris Burgess in Ahoskie, NC. He greatly enjoyed his bear hunting adventures with Holden. He also enjoyed working EMS in Conway and pig cooking competitions as long as his health permitted. Alan spent many years on the road driving 18 wheel trucks and also spent countless hours being a firefighter for the Severn Fire Department. Alan cherished his family and friends and will be deeply missed by all that knew him.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Haywood and Hazel Harris, and his paternal grandparents, Alvah and Gladys Burgess.
Along with his parents, Alan is survived by his wife Michelle, his daughter, Hayley Burgess Draper and husband Brent of Conway; two sons, Holden Alan Burgess of Conway, and Christopher Story of Franklin, VA; grand pup, Winston Draper; brother, Scott Burgess of Garner, NC; and several cousins that he was very close to.
A celebration of life memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 24, 2021, at 1:00 pm at the Conway Baptist Church, Conway, NC, with Rev. Willie McLawhorn officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the fellowship hall and other times at the home.

We are so sorry that Alan has passed away. He was such a good guy to everyone he met and will surely be missed. My heart aches for all of you. May it bring you peace to know that he is no longer in pain and he is now among the angels.
