AHOSKIE, NC – William Earl Wiggins, age 84, passed away on July 22, 2020 at the home of his daughter in Powellsville, NC.

Mr. Wiggins was born in Hertford County, NC, on June 8, 1936, a son of the late James Curtis and Genola Burch Wiggins. Billy was retired as a painter for N.C. Department of Transportation after 30 years of service.  He enjoyed fishing and listening to bluegrass music.  Billy loved his cats and dogs and he loved eating dried beans of any kind.  Most of all, he loved being around his grandchildren and singing to them.

Besides his parents, Billy was preceded in death by his wife, Elva “Lucille” Wiggins, a grandson, James Robert Harrell, his brother, J. C. Wiggins, and sisters, Gertrude W. Holloman, and Hazel W. Hewitt.

Left to cherish his memory is his son, James Isaac Wiggins and wife, Kelly of West Jefferson, NC; his daughter, Joyce Ann Pearce and companion, Keith Sterling of Powellsville, NC;  Grandson, James Brandon Beers of Raleigh, NC; two granddaughters, April Marie Byrum of Ahoskie, NC, and Bonnie Holland of Newport News, VA; four great granddaughters, Isabella Nicole Byrum, Gracelynn Roseann Faith Byrum, Samantha Holland, and Candace Holland; two great grandsons, Ethan Butch Byrum, and Cody Holland; and a great great granddaughter, Alaina.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, July 26, 2020, from 12:00 pm until 1:30 pm at Garrett-Sykes Funeral Service, Ahoskie, NC.

A graveside celebration of life service will be held on Sunday, July 26, 2020, at 2:00 pm at Highland Memorial Gardens, Ahoskie, NC, with Rev. Robert Barmer, officiating.

I’m so sorry to hear about Mr. Billy.. I really enjoyed sitting with him and talking to him. He said he would remember my name because it was his wife’s name. Sending prayers for you all.
