AHOSKIE, NC – William Howard Edwards, age 66, died on December 16, 2015 at the Vidant Roanoke Chowan Hospital of Ahoskie, NC.
Mr. Edwards was born in Northampton County on November 24, 1949, a son of the late Whit Roy and Mildred Liverman Edwards. Howard retired in November as a Truck Driver for Georgia Pacific. He was a longtime member of St. John Volunteer Fire Department and attended St. John Baptist Church. Howard loved the outdoors and spent many hours on the Chowan River fishing.
Left to cherish his memory is his daughter, Nicole E. Buck and husband, Ed of Murfreesboro, NC; his son, David Edwards and fiancé’, Jamie Ricker of Ahoskie, NC; his grandson, Landon Buck and granddaughter, Riley Buck, both of Murfreesboro, NC. Also surviving are two sisters, Betty Rhea of Cape Canaveral, FL, and Lynne Welliver of Raleigh, NC; and his brother, Whit Edwards and wife, Carolyn of Ahoskie, NC; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends prior to service on Saturday, December 19, 2015, at 10:00 am at Garrett‑Sykes Funeral Service, Ahoskie, NC. A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, December 19, 2015, at 11:00 am at the Garrett‑Sykes Funeral Service, Ahoskie, NC, with Rev. Greg Hurdle officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, 4217 Park Place Ct., Glen Allen, VA, 23060‑9979; the Hertford‑Gates Relay for Life, 930 Wellness Drive, #B, Greenville, NC, 27834; or a charity of choice.
