William Wayne “Bill” Joyner, age 89, of Scotland Neck, passed away on Sunday, February 16, 2020 at Vidant Medical Center in Greenville.
Bill was born on February 16, 1931 to William Stephen and Nina Stacie Joyner in Halifax County, NC. He was a retired Colonel in the United States Air Force, after 37 dedicated years of service to his country. Bill also served the Town of Scotland Neck as Police Chief for many years. Bill enjoyed wood working and was a true friend to many and will be deeply missed by all that knew him.
He was preceded in death by wife, Sandra Bennett Joyner.
Left to cherish Bill’s memory is his son, Steve Joyner and his wife Cindy of Scotland Neck.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, February 18, 2020, from 7:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Letchworth-Sykes Funeral Service in Scotland Neck.
A celebration of life graveside memorial service will be held on Wednesday, February 19, 2020 at 11:00 am at Sunnyside Cemetery in Scotland Neck, with Rev. Dusty Sprouse officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
