I have just learned, over a year later, of Wayne’s passing. I am so sorry to hear that news. Wayne was a very intelligent man who taught and employed me for many years. Working with him was an awesome experience. He was so knowledgeable about so many different disciplines; cabinet making, carpentry, plumbing, roofing, siding, concrete, etc. We did every job under the sun and many that most people wouldn’t touch. Wayne always did it with a smile and had a story to keep us laughing that made the days past quickly. He was very generous to me and everyone he met. He even took me with him to the Triple S mobile home park in Atlantic Beach to work on his place and he introduced me to his neighbors and friends. I felt so welcomed and everyone loved Wayne.
I’m so sorry I missed his funeral. I was at Pine Knoll Shores during the week of his passing and I suppose people just assumed I knew. I was shocked to learn of this today.
He was a very good man and I will always be grateful to him for all he did for me. May our Heavenly Father continue to bless his family and friends.

Saddened to learn about Wayne’s passing. We were both in the class of 1965 – it has been years since I’ve seen Wayne, but looking at the photo of him just now, I instantly recognized his smile. He was a kind and gentle person.

So sad to hear of Mr Smiths passing. We are surely going to miss him at Triple S this summer. We could always count on a good story when we saw him coming down the street on his golf cart. Prayers for the family.

I learned with great sadness the passing of Wayne. He was a well loved figure in the Scotland Neck community and the Triple S Marina Village in Atlantic Beach, NC. He was always ready with a helping hand for those who needed it. After the shock and mourning of his passing is less painful, I hope his family, especially his grandson Carter, can remember all the happy times they shared and how proud Wayne was of his family.
